(LEX 18) — Andy Beshear and running mate Jacqueline Coleman released a TV ad on Monday focusing on Kentucky's schools.

The two visited a school near Coleman's hometown in Mercer County for a message on school funding.

"Imagine having just one school in your community. And the lights are turned off forever. That could happen with Governor Bevin's education cuts," the ad said.

The Beshear/Coleman campaign also issued a response to Bevin's news conference.

Campaign manager Eric Hyers issued a statement, reading in part:

"Matt Bevin can't run and hide from his disastrous record of bullying teachers, tearing down public education and trying to illegally cut pensions. Instead of holding wild and unhinged press conferences, this governor should explain why he spent last month insulting, investigating and threatening fine teachers."
