Cause of death for homeless man released

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The cause of death for a homeless man that was found dead on Friday has been released.

The Fayette County Coroner's Office confirmed to LEX18 the death was caused by hypothermia.

The 59-year-old man was found dead under an overpass on the city's south side. Officials said a caller alerted emergency officials at about early Friday morning seeking a wellness check on someone sleeping under the Interstate Highway overpass at Winchester Road.

The man was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.

The day following his death, another homeless man was found dead at Newtown Pike. The cause of death has not been released.
