Children with special needs invited to annual Santa Cares event at the Fayette Mall

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Children with special needs and their families have been invited to the annual Santa Cares event at the Fayette Mall.

The event has been scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

According to a press release, "Santa Cares is a compassionate, sensory-friendly experience exclusively for families of children with special needs."

During the event, accommodations will be made for all children and their families, like keeping music in the mall muted and keeping mall lights dimmed or off completely. Stores that open early will also be mindful and keep their music muted and their lights dimmed.

The event will involve various events and refreshments, including light breakfast items, coloring activities and more, according to the press release.

Santa Cares is held as a partnership with Autism Speaks. The event is free, but space will be limited and families have been encouraged to reserve their spot by clicking here.

Keepsake Santa photo packages will be available to purchase during the event. The workshop for Santa will be located in Dillard's Court.

Guests have been asked to enter through the entrance between Talbots and Pie Five Pizza.
