1,914 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Kentucky on Wednesday

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18 — On Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 1,914 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. After the removal of duplicates, the 1,914 new cases brings Kentucky's COVID-19 case total to 383,032.

The positivity rate continues to slowly decline. Wednesday's positivity rate was 7.5%.

Gov. Beshear also announced 49 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 4,175.

“We are still seeing far too many deaths, but this decreased positivity rate is a really hopeful leading indicator,” said Gov. Beshear in a press release. “We have come so far in our fight against this virus – now, we need to hang on until we reach the finish line.”

As of Wednesday, 1,191 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 336 of which are in the ICU and 169 of which are on a ventilator.
