1,972 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Kentucky on Monday

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — During his Monday press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 1,972 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. After the removal of duplicates, the 1,972 new cases brings Kentucky's COVID-19 case total to 202,592.

"This is lower than our last two Monday's before (today)," Gov. Beshear noted. "Just about every other day I've stood up here and given this report and it is the highest Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, you pick. This is one of the first times I can remember that our number is lower than multiple previous weeks."

Monday's positivity rate was 9.6%.

Gov. Beshear also announced 10 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 2,082.

As of Monday, 1,700 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 410 of which are in the ICU and 210 of which are on a ventilator.
