1,993 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Kentucky on Friday

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — On Friday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 1,993 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. After the removal of duplicates, the 1,993 new cases bring Kentucky's COVID-19 case total to 394,687.

"Overall, our COVID-19 numbers are coming down, which is great news – but we can't let our guard down when we're this close to finishing the fight," said Gov. Beshear.

Friday's positivity rate was 6.89%.

Gov. Beshear also announced 28 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 4,401

As of Friday, 923 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 265 of which are in the ICU and 131 of which are on a ventilator. At least 46,473 Kentuckians have recovered from COVID-19.
