LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — University of Kentucky Athletics announced Wednesday that 10 student-athletes tested positive for COVID-19 between the dates of Aug. 7 through Aug. 19.

The release said 416 student-athletes were tested during that time frame. It did not name the athletes or specify which sports they participate in.

One member of the UK athletics staff also received a positive result out of 143 tested.

Nine student-athletes out of 259 tested positive for past infections after undergoing antibody testing during the initial onboarding process.

Student-athletes and staff who tested positive were required to isolate in accordance with CDC and local health department guidelines.

UK Athletics said it will continue to actively monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19 and respond accordingly in collaboration with University of Kentucky leadership and the guidance of the Southeastern Conference Medical Task Force.
