HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Harrison County Fair joins a growing list of Kentucky fairs that have been canceled this summer due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Fair Board met Wednesday to discuss the future of the 2020 fair. After weighing the pros and cons, including local regulations and safety precautions, the board made a unanimous decision to cancel the fair.
The Kentucky Association Fairs & Horse Shows plans to move forward with the Miss, Teen and Preteen state competitions later this year and early next year. Each pageant committee will hold their pageants in some capacity under their direction. Follow the Harrison County Fair Facebook page and website for updates.
The Little Miss and Mister state competition was canceled for 2020. The chairman of this committee is looking into a non-traditional way to compete for the local title.
If you have already sponsored the 2020 fair, a letter will be sent to you.
"The HC Fair is thankful for our volunteers and our community support," the fair writes in a Facebook post. "We will be back in 2021 bigger and better! If you have comments or new ideas for the fair board, please feel free to email Christy Hall, HC Fair Chairman at hcfair@hotmail.com."
