FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — During his Monday press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear announced 376 new cases of COVID-19, 51 of which were in Fayette County. After the removal of duplicates, the 376 new cases brings Kentucky's COVID-19 case total to 39,691.

The positivity rate for Monday's report was 5.8%.

"Even if we are going to plateau on our overall numbers, we definitely need to see the positivity rate starting to go down," Gov. Beshear said. "There are other states that have been through far worse than we have, but are now on the decline. We want to see that with our positivity rate."

Of the 376 new Kentuckians to test positive, 54 were 18 years old or younger.

Gov. Beshear also announced five new coronavirus-related deaths, one of which was an 87-year-old woman from Franklin County. The five new coronavirus-related deaths brings Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 818.

At least 9,158 Kentuckians have recovered from COVID-19.
