FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — During his Thursday press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 4,084 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky.

"That is down from this day last week and the week before," Gov. Beshear noted.

Gov. Beshear also announced 51 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 3,042.

"That puts us past an awful milestone," Gov. Beshear said of passing 3,000 deaths. "It felt like just the other day that we were on the front steps after we had lost out 2000th Kentuckian. We reached 3,000 far too quickly."

As of Thursday, 1,661 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 409 of which are in the ICU and 196 of which are on a ventilator.
