60 inmates within Lexington Division of Community Corrections have tested positive for COVID-19

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Lexington Division of Community Corrections has announced that 60 inmates have now tested positive for COVID-19.

The 60 positive test results comes out of 139 tests, meaning 79 inmates have tested negative. Results are still pending for 88 more inmates.

Five staff members have also tested positive while 17 have tested negative, according to a press release. Results are still pending for 30 additional staff members.

On Monday, the Lexington Division of Community Corrections received confirmation that an inmate in a second housing unit tested positive for COVID-19. That inmate has been placed on isolation and the housing unit that he was housed in has been placed on quarantine. All inmates in that housing unit have also been tested and awaiting results.
