FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — During his Tuesday press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 688 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. According to Kycovid19.ky.gov, this brings Kentucky's COVID-19 case total to 44,568.

Of the 688 new Kentuckians to test positive for COVID-19, 96 are 18 years old or younger.

"This continues to grow," Gov. Beshear said of younger people testing positive. "We know not as many kids are being tested. But with people going back to sports, go get your kids tested, don't show up to a big group activity if they have not been tested in the last couple of weeks."

Tuesday's positivity rate was 5.07 percent.

Gov. Beshear also reported 10 new coronavirus-related deaths. This brings Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 895.
