72 new cases of COVID-19 in Fayette County, majority are inmates at the Federal Medical Center

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — There are 529 COVID-19 cases in Fayette County, an increase of 72 from Tuesday.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department says 63 of those new cases are inmates who have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Federal Medical Center.

229 total inmates have tested positive for COVID-19, and one inmate has died from the virus.

FMC Lexington is an Administrative security facility that currently houses 1,414 inmates.
