FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Auditor Mike Harmon announced Wednesday he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The diagnosis came just one day after Harmon received his initial dose of the coronavirus vaccine. He said he believes he was likely unknowingly exposed and infected with the virus either shortly before or after being vaccinated.
"I still have full faith in the vaccine itself, and the need for as many people to receive it as quickly as possible," Harmon said. "My family’s example underscores the need that we continue to advocate for our front line health workers, first responders, teachers and high-risk individuals to be vaccinated."
Harmon's wife was also diagnosed with COVID-19. He said both are experiencing only mild symptoms at this time.
