LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Lexington Farmers Market is open for the season.

But due to concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak, your experience there will be vastly different than in years past.

The market is in its normal spot this Saturday under the Fifth/Third Bank Pavilion.

The hours remain from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, but starting next weekend, the market will move to the Rupp Arena parking lot.

This will allow vendors to spread further apart, and practice social distancing.

Another change this year is that the stands aren't facing the same way.

They're facing outward to prevent people from crowding together inside the market.

Only a maximum of three shoppers are allowed at each booth, and customers are not allowed to touch anything they see on the tables. They must ask the vendors to handle the items.

Market manager Joshua England says he spoke to the health department to make sure these measures were strict enough in order to be open during the COVID-19 outbreak.

People are also encouraged to spend as little time at the market as possible and pre-order food online.
