RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Madison County DJ is bringing some fun and positivity to assisted living homes, while they're passing the time until they can see their families again.

It all started a couple weeks ago. Jason Henninger owns Kentucky Pro DJ. Jason, along with his wife, who works in an assisted living home, have been putting together dance parties for seniors.

"Change their mindset for a little while, take their mind away from what's actually going on outside and just be able to have fun, even if it's for an hour a day. Just through music and letting music impact them," Henninger said.

The first party was thrown at the Dominion Senior Living Home in Richmond.

"It changed the whole place," Henninger noted. "Energy levels went up, smiles came out on faces, people actually started coming out of their rooms to look around and see what was going on. Everyone's energy picked up a lot."

Now that most senior facilities are not accepting visitors amid the coronavirus outrbeak, the DJ has made a Spotify playlist. All you have to do is search for Kentucky Pro DJ on Spotify.

"We have a playlist called the Golden Years Get Down.," Henninger said. "We will continue to add songs to that. We are also offering to drop off a speaker system that would be very simple for anyone to use, with instructions on how to use it."

It's all to make people smile, in an uneasy time.
