LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The theatre industry has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Lexington Children's Theatre has found a way to get back on stage.

It is hosting its first live show since March this Friday at the Moondance Amphitheater.

At the "Summer Family Musical Revue", everyone will be required to wear masks unless performing and the audience must adhere to social distancing.

The Becker family is one of the families rehearsing for the show together and on their own time.

"The fact that I'm in a rehearsal process is joyful and lifts my spirits," Vanessa Becker Weig said.

She will perform a song alongside her daughter, Emma. Her son, Jackson, directed the pair.

Becker Weig and her daughter are working theatre professionals, and they have really struggled since the pandemic started.

"It's hit us hard," Emma Becker, a theatre teaching artist, said.

"I was so stressed out I got shingles," Vanessa Becker said.

The Beckers said it's a breath of fresh air to see and perform in a production live on stage, and they hope theatre can make a comeback.

They also hope audiences start buying into streaming theatre services more. You can find out more about LCT's streaming services here.
