LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Crank & Boom has a new Gov. Andy Beshear-inspired ice cream flavor to add to its lineup.

”We are just trying to tag on with what people are interested in,” Crank & Boom Owner Toa Green said.

Right now, many are interested in the governor’s daily updates on COVID-19 in the state. The new flavor, ‘Beers with Beshear,’ seems like the perfect happy hour treat as you watch the news conference. It consists of coffee stout ice cream, chocolate covered pretzels and homemade salted caramel sauce.

“Hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy it at 5:00 when the governor comes on and tells us what’s going on and reminds us that it’s all going to be okay and we’re going to get through this together,” said Green.

The new flavor will be released on April 7, but they’re taking pre-orders until Thursday night at 11:59 p.m.

Two dollars from the sale of each pint will benefit the Feed Backpack Program, which helps food insecure children in the community.

”We felt particularly now, especially when kids are out of school and don’t have that stability of going to school, it’s even more important for us to provide the bags because we feel like it is food which is vitally important, but it also shows them that somebody cares about them,” Green said.

Last week, Crank & Boom released Candy Beshear which consists of salted caramel ice cream with pieces of Kit Kats, M&Ms, and Butterfingers.
