Kentucky surpasses 100,000 cases of COVID-19

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — During his Wednesday press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 1,864 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. After the removal of duplicates, the 1,864 new cases brings Kentucky's COVID-19 case total to 101,494.

"(Other) than a backlog and a previous Wednesday we saw, this would've been the highest Wednesday," Gov. Beshear said. "Which followed the highest Tuesday, which followed the highest Monday, which followed the highest Sunday, which followed the highest Saturday."

Wednesday's positivity rate was 6.07 percent.

Gov. Beshear also announced 14 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 1,442.

As of Wednesday, 927 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 235 of which are in the ICU and 110 of which are on a ventilator. At least 18,165 Kentuckians have recovered from COVID-19.
