FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Gov. Andy Beshear announced during his Thursday press conference that there are 113 new cases of COVID-19 in the state of Kentucky and that the state's COVID-19 case total is now at 9,184.

Out of the 9,184 Kentuckians to test positive for COVID-19, 3,181 have fully recovered.

Beshear also announced nine new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the state's coronavirus-related death total to 409.

Across the country, there have been over 100,000 coronavirus-related deaths.

"Just looking at the numbers, it is more Americans than I believe we lost in Vietnam and the Korean Wars combined," Beshear said. "And it is getting pretty close to the number we lost in World War I."

Kentucky Kingdom to reopen June 20

Beshear announced that Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville will be able to reopen on June 29.

"It will look very different," Beshear said. "It is a very extensive proposal. We appreciate the operators working on that with us."

Beshear also announced that he believes that pools will be able to open back up with a limited capacity that same weekend.
