LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Officials at the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department confirm the number of positive COVID-19 cases is now up to 28 (including one death). This number doubles the number reported Monday by Governor Andy Beshear.

The jump in positive cases is due to lag time in receiving test results. Health Department Officials continue to encourage the practice of social distancing and to stay home as much as possible.

In a press release, Kevin Hall, Communications Officer for Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, writes, "Don’t invite friends over for board games, puzzles, a party or any other forms of socializing, even if it’s less than 10 people."

It's reported that recent cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Lexington were a result of a small party where someone attended without knowing they had symptoms.

Health Department Officials say they will update Lexington's count at 3 p.m. daily on their website.
