LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported 149 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, which matches the city’s largest one-day total since the pandemic began.

LFCHD noted that the total does include some delayed reports.

There have been 6,833 cases and 66 deaths since the outbreak began in March.

Lexington’s one-day highs are:

  • 149 cases, Sept. 10
  • 131 cases, Aug. 7
  • 123 cases, Sept. 9
  • 122 cases. Sept. 1
  • 121 cases. Sept. 2

LFCHD said it continues to see a rise in cases among University of Kentucky students, with 1,264 total cases -- 51 of which were reported Wednesday.

That total includes testing from multiple sources, not just the specialized on-campus testing done by the university.
