Lexington sees 80 new COVID-19 cases; 2 virus-related deaths reported this week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported 80 new COVID-19 cases among Fayette County residents Wednesday.

Two deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported this week, bringing the city’s total to 49. The most recent deaths were people in their 70s and 80s.

There have now been a total of 4,186 cases since the outbreak started in March, and 931 positive cases reported so far in August.

The city’s highest one-day totals of positive cases are:
