LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — After a couple of months of closure, Spa Nails 1 on Nicholasville Road reopened with a bang this Memorial Day.

Co-owner Tuan Pham said customers were waiting outside the door before the salon even opened for the day.

"This is not normal, but we kind of expected it would be like this," Pham said.

Before customers entered the salon, they were guided on how to stand six feet apart while in line. Orange tape marked off the appropriate distance. Signs explaining rules regarding social distancing, disinfecting and many others were also posted in several locations outside and inside the salon.

Customers had their temperature checked upon entering, they were asked to use hand sanitizer. When they sat down, plexiglass barriers provided separation between them and the staff.

"I think it's great!" customer Bianca Collins said. "I think it's good that they're taking precautions."

While the State requires dozens of rules, the owners both said they are dedicated to following them all.

"To show our appreciation and support to our loyal customers we will do our part accordingly to CDC and State Board of Cosmetology to keep everybody as safe as possible," Pham said.
