LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A fitness center in Lexington has opened its doors despite Kentucky gyms not being able to open until June. The gym is a medical facility that requires a physician to refer a client to their exercise program.

Most people that come through the doors here at Body Structure have some sort of underlying health condition. The trainers say after 47 days, they are looking forward to getting them back on track.

The medical fitness facility has health coaches, dietitians, physical therapists and personal trainers working on improving people's overall health.

"Doctors can actually send their patients to us for our expertise, recovering from chronic or acute injuries, as well as medical conditions and taking patients from a high risk category to a low risk," Body Structure Owner Kevin Balcirak said.

Balcirak says because they are a medical facility, they have always had safety precautions in place, like using a cleaning agent that protects the surface for 90 days after use. To abide by CDC guidelines, the facility is taking their safety precautions to another level.

"So when people come in, we're doing all of Andy's, the Governor's, regulations. Temperature checks, employees coming in the back, coming in and out separate doors," Balcirak said.

Like every other in gym in Kentucky, their health club membership side will open on June 1st.
