LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Merrick Inn Restaurant has announced it will close curbside and patio dining until spring or until they can receive "some kind of relief from Governor Beshear's mandates."

"We have exhausted every opportunity we know of to make this work," the Murray family writes in a Facebook post. "Our staff is our family and this is very hard for us to do. If we close now, we will be able to keep lights and heat on and save this 45 year old business."

As part of the governor's restrictions, bars and restaurants will be closed for indoor service until Sunday, Dec. 13 at 11:59 p.m.

"Carryout, delivery, and outdoor seated service may continue, but only if the mask mandate and the seating rules are enforced," said Gov. Beshear. "Packed patios will result in further changes on what these venues can and cannot do."

The restaurant is selling gift cards. They plan to announce new hours and online purchases will be available.

"We will be doing raffles for bourbon and chef wine and dinner experiences," they write. "Thank you for all your love and support. Our staff needs your prayers."
