Over 50 test positive for COVID-19 at Kentucky State Reformatory

OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) — More than 50 people have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Kentucky State Reformatory.

WDRB reports a spokesperson for the Department of Corrections, said the first inmate at the La Grange prison tested positive for COVID-19 on July 5.

Contact tracing ensued, and another 47 inmates and five staff members tested positive.

WDRB reports that one of the inmates who tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday died the next day.

The spokesperson tells WDRB the inmates who test positive are being quarantined and staff who test positive are self-quarantining at home.
