(LEX 18) — Planet Fitness, one of the country's largest gym franchises, announced Monday that members and visitors working out in their clubs will have to wear masks beginning Aug. 1.
Planet Fitness members received an email from the gym franchise regarding the new policy.
"Effective August 1, all Planet Fitness members (you!) & guests will be required to wear a mask inside our clubs, at all times," the email said. "Wearing a mask in public is proven to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, and we’re committed to doing everything in our power to ensure that you can gym safely and confidently."
The email also said that if a member or guest does not have a mask or forgets a mask, a Planet Fitness team member will provide one.
Planet Fitness has two locations in Lexington, one on Bryan Station Rd and one on E Lowry Ln, as well as locations in Georgetown, Winchester, Frankfort and Richmond.
