Record number of COVID-19-related deaths reported on Thursday

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — During his Thursday press conference, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 58 new coronavirus-related deaths were reported in Kentucky, the most reported in a single day in Kentucky since the pandemic began. The 58 new coronavirus-related deaths brings Kentucky's coronavirus-related death total to 3,301.

Gov. Beshear also announced that 3,728 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky.

"It sounds like a lot, it is a lot. We need fewer cases," Gov. Beshear said. "But it is also the lowest total for a Thursday in over four weeks."

Thursday's positivity rate is 11.05%.

As of Thursday, 1,604 Kentuckians are hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, 395 of which are in the ICU and 209 of which are on a ventilator.
