LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — South Lexington Youth Baseball (SLYB) has suspended its season for two weeks to mitigate the potential spread of coronavirus.

SLYB Board President Bret Lavey made the announcement Monday.

"This was obviously a very difficult decision for us that was not taken lightly," he said. "Given the number of possible exposures that have been reported and the tracing impacts on siblings in other divisions, we felt like this was the safest decision to help maintain and promote the health of our families, which continues to be our top priority."

SLYB has had three players and one coach test positive for COVID-19 since July 27.

Practices and games are expected to resume on Aug. 24.
