LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto sent a letter to the campus Friday announcing the university's plan for the Fall 2020 semester.

President Capilouto writes that the university's goal is to open in August for the Fall semester.

He says that in order to achieve that goal, they must work over the summer to reinvent and reimagine what the new "normal" will look like.

President Capilouto says that there are three planning teams working to think about the important questions that need addressed in order to re-start campus. He says that an additional team has been put together to create strategies for screening, testing, tracing and treating patients on campus.

It's stated that the best ideas will be handed off to the university's existing COVID-19 workstreams, which is comprised of 19 teams that have been addressing issues related to the novel coronavirus.

Final campus plans are expected to be announced in mid-June.
