LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The University of Kentucky announced Friday that 23 students tested positive for COVID-19 upon arriving on campus for fall classes.
The results cover testing performed on Monday and Tuesday. Tests performed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are still pending, as results are returned within one to three days.
A total of 2,742 students were tested during the first two days.
Between Aug. 3 and Aug. 22, testing for all students — undergraduate, graduate and professional — will be available at no cost to students at five sites on campus.
Testing is offered through a third-party expert — Lexington-based testing and genomics company, Wild Health — that has been retained by the university.
