LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Shauna and Brandon Barrett will have plenty of time to plan their new baby's first birthday party.
Adaline Grace Rose Barrett was born at 5:12 a.m. on Saturday morning. Her birthday, February 29, occurs only once every four years because of leap year.
The baby was born two weeks early, but in reality, not a moment too soon. That's because the Barrett's lost their last child 18 months ago.
"We had found out in March of 2018 that we were going to have an anecephaly baby," Shauna reflected. "She lived two hours and the lord took her home."
The Barretts knew they would take the "leap" again.
"It was more on her because I had already made up my mind that I'd be okay with it," Brandon said about having another child.
"We just put it in the lord's hands," added Shauna.
As a result, the couple was delivered a leap year baby.
"She will age young," Shauna said.
The couple says they will celebrate Adaline's birthday on March 1, which is Shauna's grandmother's birthday, on non-leap years.
