3 suspects shot, 1 fatally, after alleged attempted robbery in Estill County

ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred in Estill County early Tuesday morning.

The initial investigation indicates that three armed men entered a residence occupied by two individuals on Richmond Road, just west of Irvine, for an attempted robbery.

Police said an altercation ensued, leaving all three alleged attempted robbers shot.

James Baker, 26, of Mallie, Ky., was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort.

The two other men were transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The two occupants inside the residence were not injured during the incident.

No charges have been filed at this time, and KSP is not searching for any additional suspects.
