11 months into pandemic, Kentucky has recorded 4,000th death due to COVID-19

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — On Saturday, Governor Andy Beshear's office reported 49 more Kentuckians have died after contracting COVID-19.

That means 4,020 people have died across the state due to the pandemic since COVID-19 was first detected March 6, 2020.

The governor also reported 1,998 new cases of COVID-19.

The state's positivity rate continues to drop and is now 8.07%.

There are currently 1,294 COVID-positive patients at Kentucky hospitals.

318 of those patients are in the ICU and 164 are using a ventilator.
