PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two people were declared dead after a two-vehicle crash in Perry County.
Authorities said the crash happened Tuesday morning on Kentucky Highway 15 near the junction with Kentucky Highway 28 near Hazard.
Kentucky State Police said it appeared that a truck driven by Robert Robinson was headed northbound on KY 15 when it crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a truck driven by Jeanie Gayheart.
Robinson was declared dead at the scene. Gayheart was taken to a local hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.
Troopers said neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
Toxicology reports are pending.
