(LEX 18) National Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao wasted no time at her Lexington appearance before talking up Congressman Andy Barr.
“I want you to know you have an incredible advocate in Congressman Barr,” said Chao.
The EPA’s acting administrator also stopped by and made a quick appearance with Barr. Barr is currently running for re-election against Amy McGrath and the race is one that the entire country is watching. Barr hopes to bring in another famous friend, President Donald Trump.
“We hope so because I’ve been inviting the president to come to the 6th congressional district every since I first had an opportunity to fly with him on Air Force One back in March of 2017,” said Barr.
When the White House announced the trip, McGrath responded saying, “I also hope Congressman Barr finds the political courage to finally speak out in a meaningful way against the administration’s disastrous trade policies.”
“I welcome the president, any president, to come to my district so I could be a better advocate for my district,” he said.
