LOUISVILLE, Ky (LEX 18)– Papa John’s is hitting back at its disgraced founder days after John Schnatter blasted current CEO Steve Ritchie on his personal website.
In a scathing letter Monday, Schnatter accused Ritchie of being a poor leader and accused him of creating an intimidating work environment.
The company defended its CEO Wednesday, claiming Schnatter wrote in his memoir that Ritchie is “a model of what a leader should be.”
Papa John’s is also accusing Schnatter of being driven by his own ego, writing, “John Schnatter’s attacks on the company, its board, and management seem to serve on his interests. As the independent directors, we will defend the company against his actions and continue to do what is right for Papa John’s and our stakeholders”.
