LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Police didn’t waste any time after a threat was made on social media against Lincoln County High School.

On Monday night, someone sent in a tip to Lincoln County High School. Michael Godbey, the principal at LCHS, wouldn’t go into details about what the photo showed, but says it was serious and clearly a threat.

Godbey says police worked quickly and found the student allegedly in that photo.

Stanford’s police chief told the Interior Journal that student was arrested after allegedly holding a weapon in the photo.

The entire situation was handled within three hours and the school choose not to call parents to tell them about the threat that night. Godbey says that’s because the threat didn’t happen at school or during school, and they didn’t want to cause unnecessary panic.

Godbey says everything was possible because of a vigilant community member.

“Anytime that something like that is on social media, we encourage people to let us know so we can react,” said Godbey.

Disciplinary action has been taken against the student at school, and police have filed charges as well.
