LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3) – Hundreds gathered at Churchill Downs to pay their respects to horse racing icon John Asher.
His visitation started with an emotional tribute at the track. Asher’s casket was carried around the track in a hearse surrounded by horses. In the stretch near the finish line, the track’s bugler played “My Old Kentucky Home.”
Asher died last week after suffering a heart attack while on vacation with his family. He was 62 years old.
Escorted by outriders, John Asher makes a final 1 ¼-mile trip beneath the historic Twin Spires of Churchill Downs. https://t.co/FNvQkjzS9V
