LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — There’s still no sign of a lost show dog that went missing last week in Lexington.

“How would you like to lose your child? That’s what happened,” said David Heintzelman, the dog’s owner.

Pam and David Heintzelman have scoured Lexington searching for their whippet named Lucy. She went missing from a Red Roof Inn last Thursday. They were in town to compete in the Bluegrass Classic Dog Show.

Right now, they have no clue where Lucy is.

But that might come as a surprise to some who could have sworn they saw Lucy safe and sound with her family. That is because Lucy looks pretty similar to the three other whippets the Heintzelmans bought from St. Louis. They are serving as decoys, another tactic to help bring Lucy home.

“If Lucy were to run through the parking lot, she would see that dog, or maybe me, and run right to us,” said David.

David says that the three other dogs are not eating right and that they know something is wrong.

If anyone spots Lucy, they should try not to chase her because she gets nervous. Anyone who spots the dog should call 314-304-2080. The Heintzelman’s are offering $200 for anyone who brings Lucy back to them.
