LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after one person was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash on Hensley Road.

They said it happened around 1:15 p.m.

Investigating deputies said that two vehicles collided head-on on Hensley Road just off Kentucky Highway 490.  They say that a Toyota Camry was travelling westbound and crossed into the oncoming lane, hitting an SUV. The sheriff’s office said that drug usage is suspected with the driver of the Toyota.

The sheriff’s office said that the driver of the Toyota Camry was 45-year-old Chris Francis, of East Bernstadt. He was airlifted to UK for treatment of serious injuries.

A passenger in the Camry, 60-year-old Holly Francis, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the GMC Terrain SUV was identified as 27-year-old Laura Allen, of East Bernstadt. Two passengers in the vehicle, an infant under 1 and a 10-year-old girl were transported to St. Joseph London for observation and treatment of injuries.

The occupants of the SUV were wearing seat belts and the infant was properly restrained in a child safety seat, which deputies say protected the infant.
