HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Harrison County Search and Rescue crews tell LEX 18 that their search for a missing fisherman is now a recovery mission, but they can’t get out to continue the search until Wednesday.

Officials say the water level is too high and the current is too strong for rescue teams because of the rain this weekend.

Crews believe they likely won’t be able to get into the water until Wednesday, and even then, they will only be able to search open water. The water near the dam is rough.

The fisherman, 77-year-old Porter Lamb, went missing Saturday when his boat capsized during a fishing tournament. The search and rescue team chief says the boat got too close to the Terry Dam and was drawn into the dam itself. A nearby boat managed to rescue one person on board, but Lamb still has not been found.

The search and rescue team is trying to figure out how to tackle this recovery mission, but they say until the water goes back and drops significantly there’s nothing they can do.
