FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)– Three years to the day he was shot and killed in the line of duty, a life saving donation was made in honor of fallen Kentucky State Trooper Cameron Ponder.
Ponder was shot and killed Sept. 13, 2015 in Lyon County by a man he attempted to pull over. A motive has never been determined.
Ponder’s mother spoke Thursday in a room of her son’s peers and loved ones as Kentucky State Police was presented with a check for 1,000 life saving tourniquets, to hopefully prevent similar tragedies in the future.

“Today is the 3rd anniversary of my son’s death and it’s usually a very dark day for us and this is a great light on a dark day and those are the things we live for,” said Brenda Tiffany, Ponder’s mother.
The tourniquets and duty belt holders were made possible through a grant thanks to the Spirit of Blue non-profit organization.
