LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Lexington Fayette-Health Department is planning to send a team of nurses to help with medical relief following Hurricane Florence as part of a state health department response.

Three nurses from LFCHD will join with five others from across the state to head south.

The nurses will leave at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Initial plans will take them to North Carolina, but that could change depending on the storm’s path and the greatest need.

It’s not the first time LFCHD nurses have helped in catastrophes. In 2005, a team was sent to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

The organization will hold a Facebook live on their page at 3 p.m.
