LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – A Fayette County judge has granted shock probation to four men convicted in a bizarre 2017 kidnapping, robbery and assault case.

John Cooper, Zachary Costin, Andrew Ward and Ethan Hatfield were convicted earlier this year in a scheme involving a plan to bring large amounts of marijuana in from Colorado and sell it in Lexington, primarily targeting university students.

The men were accused of holding a man who allegedly was a drug courier against his will inside a $2.5 million home and robbing and beating him.

Fayette County Circuit Court officials say Judge Thomas Travis granted shock probation to all four men over the past several weeks.
