KSP Investigates Fatal Collision Involving A Bicycle In Hardin Co.

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) KSP says that a bicyclist was killed in Hardin County Thursday morning.

They report that around 3:52 a.m., KSP Post 4 received a call from the Radcliff Police Department dispatch saying that a vehicle hit a bicyclist near the North Dixie Highway and Bullion Boulevard interchange in Hardin County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that 58-year-old Brian D. Casey, of Rineyville, was travelling southbound on North Dixie Highway when he hit 24-year-old Charles Montgomery, of Louisville, who was riding a bicycle in the southbound emergency lane of North Dixie Highway.

After hitting Montgomery, KSP said that Casey continued driving south before stopping on Preston Street in Radcliff.

Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene.

Casey was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and was later charged with driving under the influence 1st degree, manslaughter 2nd degree, and leaving the scene of the accident/failure to render aid with death or serious physical injury.

He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
