CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Kentucky State Police have identified the man who was shot and killed after a chase in Christian County.

They announced Wednesday that the man was 44-year-old Damon Gayheart, of Owensboro.

Gayheart was shot Monday in Hopkinsville by Trooper Paul Hale, who has been placed on administrative leave.

KSP says Gayheart was driving a stolen car out of Ohio when he took off and dragged Hale.

Hale was able to free himself and shoot Gayheart, who died on the scene.
