Beshear Announces Indictment Of Former Estill Judge-Executive

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) -After his arrest Thursday, Attorney General Beshear released a statement on the indictment of Former Estill County Judge-Executive Wallace Taylor.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted Wallace Taylor, 56, of Irvine, Tuesday, Sept. 18 on one count of abuse of public trust over $10,000, a Class C felony.

Beshear’s office charges that while serving as the Estill County judge-executive, on or about Dec. 1, 2016, through March 31, 2017, Taylor took more than $38,000 in state and federal grants funds that belonged to the county.

The Franklin Circuit judge issued a $40,000 bench warrant for Taylor, who was arrested Thursday, Sept. 20, and was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

The Kentucky State Police investigated the case, and Beshear’s Office of Special Prosecutions is prosecuting the case.

A charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
