WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Woodford County man is facing multiple charges of sexual abuse of a minor, as well as voyeurism and possession of matter portraying a sexual performance of a minor.
Authorities say 56-year-old Christoffel Barnard of Midway was arrested Monday evening at his home in 400 block of South Winter Street.
According to his arrest citation, Barnard placed a hidden camera in the bathroom of a minor child and sexually assaulted a juvenile girl.
The alleged abuse initially was reported in February.
The camera was discovered by the mother of the victim. There were multiple children in the home.
A juvenile female told investigators that a man, whom she believed to be Barnard, had touched her inappropriately for sexual gratification.
The arrest citation says Barnard attempted to discuss the incident with the alleged victim the next morning.
After the digital camera was discovered in the bathroom vent, police say they found an app on a phone the man used that was paired with the device. Detectives say explicit photos were found on the phone.
Barnard was being held in the Woodford County Detention Center.
